I haven't been following this thread extremely closely, but there's a fine line between expressing positive views, thoughts and feelings about one's own religion related purely to one's own life experience and proselytizing. Isn't proselytizing against forum rules? What is proselytizing? Is it only actively and only obviously trying to get others to join your specific religion (there are tens upon tens of thousands of religions in the world)?
Or, does proselytizing also include rhetoric that tells people that they need to join your particular faith out of thousands or if not, they're going to hell, etc.? I believe this kind of thing is proselytizing as well.
I hope the mods can get together and really pin down what is and what is not acceptable posting related to religion so there are fewer grey areas.
Having grown up in an extreme religious household and born into a faith that believes that it's THE one "true faith" (ie Catholicism), I feel very thankful that I was able to break from that and I feel very thankful that I see others as fellow human beings rather than as "souls" or as adversaries. Loving people for being people rather than for who they believe in or don't believe in. Even so, reading about any kind of religion that preaches hard core views against people (ie non-believers), up to and including violence against them is very triggering for me. I've lived through that and I know first hand how dangerous and damaging that can be.
When does expressing positivity about one's own religious beliefs (for themselves) become proselytizing?
For the record, I ask this question as applicable to ANY religion.
