Something I have had on VHS for 30+ years. It has gone from just enjoying the trains to admiring the scenery too.
That's actually rather relaxing to just zone out to. Very meditative! If you like trains maybe you would like this. It's called "slow tv", this is a 10 hour train journey, they aired this non stop and live on tv. Now that I think about it, maybe you posted this a while ago? Anyway, slow tv is pretty good.
It always felt very charismatic as a technology and engineering field. There's something about the simplicity of it, the fact it's so close to our first external combustion engines, and how stately they seem, to me at least, but clearly a lot of people get something out of it.Steam engines in children's cartoons are strangely persistent, considering that few children have seen one run for three generations. Even stranger, the proportions of the boiler and the cylinders is usually correct, if the cylinders are remembered at all, but there have been quite a few modern attempts to use steam, sometimes with waste heat, where the boiler area completely ignored the old rule of thumb.
Do they have train snow ploughs? I noticed the way those tracks are cleared looks very neat and clean cut.If you like trains maybe you would like this. It's nice, but for me it doesn't really work. Wrong pacing, doesn't have the hypnotic repetition. I can't watch normal TV, but the train sequence is more just a recording of what's there, with no manipulation, no unrelated narrative, nothing to 'sell', just a journey, and single tracked at that! (geddit? sorry!!). Lets me step back and let the subconscious just absorb it without thinking. This is my favorite, it's called "Hurtigruten Minute by Minute". Hurtigruten (it means The Fast Route) is a tour with cruise ships that travels the length of Norways coast, stopping in many fjords along the way. 134 hours! They aired this live on national tv for 134 hours non stop. It is truly Slow Tv. It turned into a national party, people were waiting on the coastline for the ship to sail past them, following the ship in small boats, waiving flags and celebrating and a good time was had by all. This is just a part of it, 12 hours:

@Aunty Autie posted a music track in the "what song are you listening to now" thread that seems to do a similar thing, it's an 8 hour music track. I was 20 years old before I saw snow and I had to travel interstate for that. They feed the driver and crew with huge quantities of baked beans, and then one at a time, they climb out to the fron..., er..., um...,
Oh, that wasn't about trains. It was a healing solfeggio frequency.@Aunty Autie posted a music track in the "what song are you listening to now" thread that seems to do a similar thing, it's an 8 hour music track. Post #20236 if your browser doesn't take you directly to the correct post.

Yes, but the trains video promotes the same sort of relaxation. I'm not in to trains either but I enjoyed watching the video for a bit.Oh, that wasn't about trains. It was a healing solfeggio frequency.
