Lofty aspirations maybe?I suppose it's very uplifting too! Or am I winging it here?

Nice polish on that prop. If that were my brass lamp, it would be gleaming, like the exposed plumbing to my water heater. I'd show you my prop, but it is a serious engineering illustration, and so does not qualify.
I do love it when something I'm working on disappears, with the surface only reflecting images, not flaws. I find aluminum very challenging, as the oxidation is very hard and near-instant. I've tried wet sanding with oil and still can't get rid of some grey spots. Not a great polish, but an acceptable one.
As I recall, the last time it was wet-sanded to 1500 grit then hit with Happich's Simichrome
We call that a Pittsburgh finish, a high polish over deep scratches
methodology sounds right, but half the battle is choosing the best polishI do love it when something I'm working on disappears, with the surface only reflecting images, not flaws. Actually completely harmless even if they look a little scary, having one of them in your yard means no rats or mice in your house.Time to sell the house. Not worth the risk living there with that thing in the yard.

Yep. Just like most politicians, all frills and no substance. Flashing those frills is their only trick, they're actually quite docile and won't bite. They will climb up you to get more in to your face with the frills but that's the extent of it.Reminds me of a politician - trying to look bigger than it is, and mouth constantly open! But much better looking!
