Post something Weird or Random

Someone on a train spotted three white moose in Sweden yesterday.
We've got the same sort of thing going on here with kangaroos. Normally in the wild albinos have a greatly reduced chance of survival. They're susceptible to sunburn, their eyes are adversely affected by bright sunlight and they're more easily spotted by predators.

They used to be very rare but are a lot more common now because of human intervention, being protected so that they live long enough to breed and pass on the faulty genes.

Very cool.

There are some piebald white deer in my neighborhood. They definitely stand out. I see fewer of them every year. There is a lot of hunting here and I'm sure they are easy to spot.

There is an unwritten rule here, white moose or deer are not hunted. If you see them, you leave them alone. They are magical. :)It does happen once in a blue moon that an idiot ignores that rule and he is then thoroughly reprimanded by people. It's like shooting a swan, it's just not done, who does that.

Americans lack such sensitivity. :-(

Here is a melanistic King Penguin:

Looks like the victim of an oil spill. It has to be a pic from the Exxon Valdeez disaster because there's been no such spill in Australia or Antarctica.

Here we have problems with people when fishing, and it's not an unwritten law, it's a very written law with huge fines but new migrants have a hard trouble understanding the concepts.

You're not allowed to keep undersized fish. Some species of fish you're not allowed to keep at all. Some species including crabs have a season where you're not allowed to hunt hem and even in season you're not allowed to keep a female. And there's a bag limit of how many you're allowed to catch too.

We don't want our waters fished out like in other countries.

Sick, ignorant, twisted, despicable English adult male children who have got hold of a crossbow and can't think of anything better to do with it!
I truly 'love' my fellow countrymen sometimes (I've not heard of women indulging in this beautiful pastime, seems to be mostly a male thing šŸ¤®).

Native Americans, or at least the plains tribes, revered white bison and did not hunt them. The birth of an albino bison is still a religious event, celebrated among the tribes.

Many years ago, a neighbor who lived several miles from us released some domesticated white turkeys he was raising. Our native or wild turkeys are basically brown and blend into the environment so they are hard to see. The white turkeys interbred with the wild turkeys and for several years thereafter, we'd easily see the crossbred turkeys roosting in the trees. I haven't seen them in many years so I guess either predators got them or the "white" genes got bred out of them.
