By the very definition of "normal", I am convinced that if the majority of the population was autistic, then it would be the NT's that would be considered disabled, as they would be "different".

Of note: I never feel disabled when alone. But, I always feel very disabled - even crippled - when among other people (NT's) or having to interact with them.

That's a good point--hadn't thought of it that way: socially I have challenges that impact me every day I live amongst people and it's always been that way, but alone I don't experience it to that extent. It's like the disability goes nearly away when I'm by myself and can control my environment, eat how I want to eat, turn off all noise, engage in activities I like even tho others may see them as weird. In that space I definitely don't see myself as "disabled"--but put me in a group of people and nothing makes sense, and it seems like everything is going so fast and there's no way to keep up--it definitely has an impact. Much of the time I wind up mincemeat. I wish life had subtitles so I'd have some idea of what's going on with people.
