Songs from Childhood

I used to run round and round in circles like a galloping horse when this came on the TV or radio!

I even know the translation of the lyrics and I can sing the original lyrics too lol! I got a little obsessed with it. I still really enjoy it today!

To dance the La Bamba,
To dance the La Bamba,
It's necessary to have a bit of grace,
A little bit of grace for me and you,
Up above up above
Ah , Up above up above
For me for you.
For me for you.
For me and you.

No I'm not a sailor
No I'm not a sailor
I'm a Captain
I'm a Captain
I'm a Captain

Bamba bamba
Bamba bamba

To dance the La Bamba
To dance the La Bamba
It's necessary to have a bit of grace,
A little bit of grace for me and you,
Up above
Ah , Up above,
For me for you,
For me for you,
For me and you,

Bamba bamba,
Bamba bamba.

This one also made me run round in circles. Probably because it starts with a similar guitar lick. But also because it's just damn exciting and fun! :-)

From back when songs used to have "Shalalala" in the lyrics! We need more these days I think! :)

Streaking was a big deal when I was little.
My 20 year old neighbour steaked down the street but I missed it.

"Don't look Ethel!" became a catch phrase in my family.

I like most of the music listed in here but you asked specifically for early childhood and embarrassing. I'll start with some irrational hates first though. These hates were only during early childhood.

All Beatles songs. My Grade 1 teacher was a hippy lady with hair down to her bum and a guitar. She'd make us all sit in a circle and sing along while she played Beatles songs. At that stage I was mostly nonverbal and hated being made to sing.

Elvis Presley. Every weekend was the same, the only thing on TV was another Elvis Presley movie. I reckon he made more cheap movies than he had hit songs. I hated him with passion.

Now for the likes. For my whole life I've been singing and humming a set of nonsense tunes and it's only as I'm getting older I realised where I got them from. Much of it is from the theme song for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang but there's a few old adverts mixed in with it too.

And there's one song that I find myself singing when emotions are high. This most often happens when I'm really happy, but it scares the bejeesus out of people if it comes out when I'm really angry. If I'm angry the words are different but the tune is the same:

1980 - Flying to Los Angeles

This was on the airplane music radio thing on my little headset.
I was instantly in love with ONJ. It was even better than Grease.
I can still feel the airplane motions.
