Since today is the day some of us are enjoying Bonfires and Fireworks to celebrate the prevention of a hostile (and rather explosive) takeover of the UK, I thought I'd share this video - which details not only the failed Gunpowder Plot, but two other failed attempts at assassinations presented in a comical way.

The memory of my luckiest line. I'd gone to a neighbourhood meeting, and a circle of about 40 people had done brief introductions. A woman who was starting a magazine came to me after the meeting, and asked if she could get an interview about my project. We decided that there was no time like the present, so we just went to the nearest public table, in the pub next door. There, it felt like a social occasion, so she introduced herself a bit more. The Club of Rome report had been in the news, and she wanted to identify herself with the Deep Ecology faction, so she said "I think there should be a reduction in population." I let that simmer until ripe, and then leaned forward to confide "Well, yes. I have a little list myself." She almost fell off her chair.

Arguing with my mom and telling her "a broken clock is right twice a day."

Snarky, I know, but she really annoys me!
