What are your current obsessions?

Another obsession of mine (and this is a weird one) is schools. Not going to school, but schools in general. I have trouble explaining why...something about how each neighborhood gets zoned to a different school, and it's a place where all children congregate, but you usually only know the kids in your school, and how every school is unique, but they all do pretty much the same thing. My secondary address is in an enormous school district, and whenever we drive by a school, I have to stare at it in awe. One time, my mom actually drove me by whichever schools in the district I wanted to see. It was one of the best days of my life.

Similar to my school obsession is an obsession with streets and addresses. I love how each street is unique, and every house looks different, inside and out. I've actually memorized the addresses of everyone in my grade (they used to find it creepy, but have gotten used to it).

William Blake, the artist, poet and prophet. I have always been a Blake fan but during the last year I have spent a small fortune on Blake books and engravings. I spend hours looking through catalogues or bibliographies....over and over again. I search for Blake material on the internet and will spend much time searching for obscure books that contain engravings by Blake. My wife and kids are very tolerant but I am sure they must get tired of it. It is one of the only subjects I enjoy discussing but, unfortunately, I don't have anyone to discuss it with.

My Obsessions and Interests are basically Sports/Recreation & Music, i would mostly spend my off time doing things with these things.
I have a thing with movies that aren't cliched and very depth and keep me thinking, i like tv show's about Bikies, Gangs, Travel, or something funny like Swamp People
I have secondary interests in them as well as Business, Film & Photography as well as Information Technology.

One of my current obsessions is the geography of London. I love looking at detailed ordnance survey maps and photos of the urban/sub-urban landscape of the place. Ever since I was a toddler I have been passionately interested in railways (not just the trains but the infrastructure, places and history that go along with them too). London is an amazing place for railways and I especially like the undergound which I find fascinating. I love some of the new buildings such as the Shard and the Canary Wharf skyscrapers which make the landscape look quite dramatic.

My current obsession is, ditzy as it is, Harry Potter fanfiction. Thankfully, though, I'm a very picky reader, so I don't find very many fics that meet my standards. But when I do, it's usually very, very good.

I was obsessed with certain characters right after the last movie came out, and then that faded away and it wasn't much of anything for a while, and then I discovered fanfiction....

My first post, my obsession is animals, It always has been, I will randomly research any animal I know of when I get bored, and if I see or hear about an animal I don't know much about I research it ASAP. I have had many pets and currently house two tiger salamanders ambystoma tigrinum and a spiny soft-shell turtle, I catch animals all the time, I am soon to attend college for equine science horses, the. After these two years attend a four year college and get a zoology degree.
As a child I was always watching Steve irwin and Jeff corwin.
Catching animals is almost an instinct for me, I don't really think about it I don't usually get bitten or any thing, I have picked up a venomous snake or two, frogs, spiders you name it even an amphiuma, if I've seen it within five feet you can almost bet I've picked it up, I caught and tamed a squirrel in high school this week I caught a bat, not the first, I've even grabbed a bat in mid flight, now I do want to say here that I am not in any way harming an animal, I spend hours researching how to care for any animal I house, and I do not harm animals, except fish, I do enjoy angling and eating fish. I simply didn't want you to think I was hurting the animals I care so much about.

Also many people find my statements...unrealistic, however I am more than happy to post a photo or two, as a matter of fact I post many pictures of the animals I catch on a social networking site so now I try to take pictures of them as often as possible

I welcome questions I love talking about animals and researching them well this is my first post
So hello i suppose

I don't know any other Aspies, so it's really funny to look at this thread and think about wanting to post but then thinking unconsciouslyNah, they'll think it's weird...

Current Obsessions:
Tea (and the perfect cup of it)
Sherlock Holmes, especially the BBC series
Harry Potter to some degree

Old Obsessions:
Doctor Who
Harry Potter
Artemis Fowl
A Series of Unfortunate Events

Tea (and the perfect cup of it)

Ahhh yes, the humble cuppa, so undervalued and simple, yet harder to make than it sounds, are you talking about the English way of tea making or the oriental way?
I remember someone once schooled me in the finer points, there is something to do with not allowing the water to fully boil and never boil water twice, having to let it draw...

From what I have seen, there are quite a few people here who are mad for a decent cup of tea!

Lapsang Souchong.jpg At the moment my favourite is Lapsang Souchong

Golden Monkey Tea.jpg I am desperate to try Golden Monkey tea as it is super strong but also sounds awesome

I love Lapsang Souchong with a passion. Whenever I want my mum to get it from the store I always tell her "get the bacon tea," because she doesn't know the real name, just the color of the package. When I first made it she walked into the kitchen and said "hmmm, where'd you get the bacon?"

I generally do the English way, just boiling water, dipping a PG Tips or Twinnings bag in and setting a timer. I drink it constantly so I would probably never get out if I did anything fancy.

My current obsession is the music of The Smiths.

No rhyming, no obvious musical influences, lots of charming stuff...

I can't help but to post this video here:

Ever been to FanFiction?? They should have more than enough Harry Potter fanfiction for you. I actually write a little fanfiction myself, albeit in the genre of my favorite 1980's TV series, Airwolf, specifically the characters of Stringfellow Hawke and Caitlin O'Shannessy, and the URT (Unresolved Romantic Tension) between the two. But, the Harry Potter section (under "books," with over 600,000 stories) should suffice. :)

Another of my obessions include urban planning.

I was thinking the arrangement of roads and houses near the mass transit stations I plan out :)

The most prevalent of my obsessions for many years has been the internet. Everything about the internet, blogging, forums, facebook, you name it. Since I tend to isolate myself from the world outside, it's also my form of communication with people. I use YM and other forms of chat to talk to people instead of, say, the phone or heaven forbid, talking to them IRL!

Also gaming, especially MMO games. I have played MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online) games religiously for a good part of the past decade. Right now, with my kids gone to their grandparents and pretty much being alone, I can easily put in a good 8 hours of gaming in a day. That's when I've worked that day. Weekends, well forget it -- I'm gone. In my MMO world. o.O

I can relate to feeling better talking over chat or YM (or IM) than talking in real life. It's a lot easier, I think. :)

And I can so relate to the MMO thing--my wife got me stuck on World of Warcraft...I haven't worked up to playing 8hrs a day yet (although she can, usually on her days off, Thursdays and Sundays)...but I've been known to play 2-3 hours at a spurt. I get bored, though, and have to check other things on the Internet (like this board, my email, and FanFiction.net, among others.) :)

Now I'm totally obsessed with musical instuments and music. I have a constantly growing collection of musical instruments (today is 34 instruments), including very rare and unusual and play most of them. Also music is my second obsession - especially Medieval and Renaissance; I listen a several hours per day, often dwelling on one track (one time I listened one small track during about 15 hours).

Right now my most current obsession is listening to BlackMore's Night songs over and over. Writing my stories and poems.

Video codecs and conversion. I've passed hours reading and trying things about that since last week, using ffmpeg.
