What are your current obsessions?

--current obsessions--

-indie rock, folk, and revisiting my ska phase.
-psychedelic art for my tumblr blog
-white wine, red tea and dominostein
-someone I talk to
-vintage (style) clothes, light colors.
-visas, citizenship and studying abroad
-connecting physics and math with other subjects, like philosophy and art.
-visiting my parents this Christmas in the UK
-designing my dream house/apartment

You like Ska music? Got any recommendations?

This song I've been listening to a lot:

I used to love ska when I was younger. Japan has also a surprisingly good ska scene going on, and I used to hunt for new bands constantly. For American, I think the best are Operation Ivy and Voodoo Glow Skulls. For Japanese, Potshot is really good. Tokyo Ska Paradise is also really good, but they're a more instrumental/classical type. A lot of bands honestly are kind of hit and miss. I'd have a couple of songs I really loved and were obsessed with, but didn't think much of the rest. So if you torrent, mixes are a good place to start, I think. ^_^

I'm not that knowledgeable about that genre of music and I don't listen to it much these days, but I'd say this is a pretty good starting place:

Ska for the Skeptical

I will check all of that out, thanks.

Still cyberpunk, steampunk & dieselpunk... though steampunk is getting overshadowed by the other 2. Mix in a bit of atompunk... yay for genres.
Blade runner is currently something I read up a bit.
Fallout: new vegas is dying out a bit, so I'm going to indulge on Fallout 3 again this week I guess.
And probably, but that's quite in line with the "punk" genres... my project. Don't know if I call it an obsession, but it's something I spend a decent amout of time on.
Languages and mostly the obscure ones they tried to introduce as global languages rather than region/country-specific ones. As well as a couple of fictional ones like Newspeak and Cityspeak, and a bit of Polari.
Oh, and a bit about neuromodulation, drugs, chemicals and all kinds of happy pills... it's funny if you talk to therapists about SSRI's and they really look at you like "why the hell do you know this?"

But yeah, that kinda sums it up.

Heh, talking about ska.. this is probably the most "ska-ish" song on my computer and it kinda grew on my the past weeks... though I never was into ska that much... kinda got annoyed when they played Rancid at least once a night when I went to my favorite hangout 10 years ago. And that was way to Ska for me back then, lol

But yeah, this makes up for a weird mix, anyhow... enjoy(?)

Artbooks.

I'm trying to find all the highest-quality in-print artbooks containing artworks by my favorite artists.

These will likely be my next artbook purchases:

My current obsessions include sports stats.

I think the Raiders gonna roll through AFC West this season. Thank you 2010Dolby

Are you obsessed with the theory or practical side of things and are you sure it's an obsession, I sorta reckon it's a necessity LOL

Just remember that practice makes perfect so, practice, practice, practice ; ]

I must add, sex is not a necessity. (My opinion)

Nah, it was meant as a joke really, hence the LOL at the end ; ]
Although, sex is a biological function required to perpetuate the species (if there are no test tubes or turkey basters anywhere around at the time)

I see. I generally do not get humor. :nah:

Soon, at some point, the biological function will no longer be needed. Cloning.

I really never want a child, but on a side note, I would like to have a humanoid cyborg child, perhaps.

Really, more of the psychology/biology/cultural aspects of it. I've always liked the idea of studying [human sexuality] formally, but I figured even if I did manage to swing a degree that specific, it would be weird applying for non-sexuality related jobs and showing them that degree.

Well that's half of my interest in it at the moment, anyways (to be honest). But more what I meant for the obsession thread. :P

Never mind NeverEnder, humor is subjective anyway and sometimes not even funny, you are not missing out just because you've not got the same sense of humor as any one other person, and you are right about cloning and robots, just read up on the Japanese for their cyber-people ideas. Awesome AND Weird ; ]

kasmanaft08, Dr. Ruth and Pamela Stevenson spring to mind when you mention the job side of things, particularly the interview Pamela Stevenson (Mrs. Billy Connolly) did with Jean Simmons, the lead singer of KISS.

A new obsession of mine -- WOW, or World of Warcraft. Have to blame (or thank) my DWW (Dear, Wonderful Wife) for this one....I never thought I could get interested in a game like WOW, but now that I've started playing it, I've realized how much fun it is!! :)

Shaving. Been spending many hours every day reading about shaving-related stuff.

I put much importance into this because I have sensitive skin and shave frequently. Sometimes after I'm done shaving my head I'm left with red marks (razor burn and sometimes cuts) all over it :(. This needs to stop.

I also want to save money. The safety razor I'm gonna be getting in the mail should save me a ton of money. All of the shaving stuff I posted in the Things you've bought recently thread cost about the same as just 24 Gillette Fusion cartridges:

I quite like the Gillette Fusion, but replacement cartridges for it are expensive.
