Charles B Stanford, Irish Rhapsody No. 1 op. 78, composed in 1902--heard over S.C. Public Radio's Sonatas and Soundscapes, broadcasting on 91.3khz from Columbia. St. Patrick's day calls for some good music here.
I heard settings of Yeats' poetry, new compositions for the Irish harp, that sort of thing--all of it quite good. This is pretty good stuff really--public radio is worthwhile for the music because I don't know any private stations around here that would even bother giving us real music--we get "beach music" and country instead, or talk shows.
