What video game are you currently playing?

Touch Detective 3 on the Nintendo Switch. The Touch Detective games are some of my favorites on the DS and I’m so glad the entire trilogy is now on the Switch with the third game being available outside of Japan for the very first time ever. The DS games are hard to find physically because they were published by Atlas and their games are always hard to get physically after the initial release.

Still playing Among Us VR. I never got into the original game when it was popular during the pandemic, but in VR it's really fun.I think I have put more hours into this than any other VR game yet.
I've also been playing Alvo VR, which is the closest thing to a VR Call of Duty that I've played yet. I'm not good at it though, so I'll just continue playing until I get tired of losing.

Going to start playing Animal Well next. I've heard it's like Halo 2 meets Halo 3.

Shadow of the Erdtree

I'm going to let you in on a little secret: FromSoftware has been playing coy about the size of Shadow of the Erdtree, the Elden Ring expansion now more than two years in the making. In past interviews the developer has suggested it's roughly the size of Limgrave, the starting area in the base game. Maybe even a little bigger. But I spent a full day playing Shadow of the Erdtree at FromSoftware's offices in Tokyo last month, and I can assure you that estimate is sneakily setting the studio up to underpromise and overdeliver.

Not only is the landmass likely bigger than you're expecting, it's more intricate than any existing part of Elden Ring's map, with cliffs and canyons that require puzzling out how you can reach one point for another. Anyone who tries to make a beeline for each map fragment is going to run into more than a few surprises.

"At the very outset there were a lot of possibilities, but one of the things that was determined very early on was that size," said FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki. "We wanted that sense of scale for this map, because we wanted an experience for the player that was going to match that of the base game. We wanted them to experience that sense of discovery, and that sense of wonder and exploration again. We needed a map that was going to uphold that and bolster that."

Slay the Spire, because my company is working on making the similar game. And I dislike card games, so this is a hard project to work on.

Elden Ring DLC release date and time

The Elden Ring DLC Shadow of the Erdtree will be released on Friday 21st June.

Currently, we don't know the exact release time for Shadow of the Erdtree. It could become available at midnight in your local time zone or it could have a simultaneous global release. The latter means the release of Shadow of the Erdtree is tied to a specific time in a specific region, which will cause it to be released at different times across the world. If this method is chosen, you could find yourself playing the Elden Ring DLC before or after midnight depending on this region.

I have been playing Splatoon 3 quite a lot. It is such a great game. It is a third-person shooter made by Nintendo with competitive, cooperative, and single player modes. The setting is post apocalyptic, but with an extremely colorful, friendly, and upbeat atmosphere. Humanity is extinct, but now ocean life has taken over. Inklings wear fresh clothes and play games with each other. The game avoids toxic player atmosphere by not having text or voice chat. There is however a dedicated controller button for saying Booyah! and another for Over Here!

One of the big things that makes the game unique is that the weapons all use ink. There are water gun like shooters, paint brushes, buckets that slosh ink, etc. The teams have different ink colors. The weapons paint the walls and floors with the corresponding team's color. You can swim quickly in your team's color, but the other color hurts you. This makes inking turf to control territory important. Swimming in your color ink is also how your ink tank is refilled quickly. Splatting other players and not being splatted is important for victory, but it is not directly related to the victory condition in any mode. It helps because splatted players have a short timeout before respawning and can't do anything while they wait. Inking turf or supporting the team on the objective in other ways can be just as helpful as getting splats.

There are several competitive modes. They are the main focus of the game for many players. One mode is called turf war. The objective of that mode is to cover the most ground with your team's color. Whichever team controls the largest area at the end wins. This is the only mode that isn't ranked. You can potentially match up with anyone. It is the mode to pick for no-stakes fun. Trying out a new weapon, or playing with friends.

The other modes are ranked. You can get a rating C- through B, A, S, and X. The game tries to match you with players of similar skill in these modes. Ranked modes include:
splat zones: control one or more zones by inking it with your color and defending against the other team
rainmaker: both teams guard a pedestal near their base. there is a powerful weapon near the center called a rainmaker. it makes the player that carries it slow, but it shoots a charged explosive shot. the goal is to force the rainmaker onto the other team's pedestal
tower control: there is a tower that starts in the middle. when a player is riding on top the tower, it moves toward the other team's base along a set track. the goal is to force the tower to reach the end of the track.
clam blitz: each team has a basket near their base. there are clams scattered around the level. the goal is to throw the clams in the enemy team's basket

The cooperative mode is called Salmon Run. Four players team up to work a shift for a mysterious business person named Mr Grizz. The players are sent into a map with a basket near the spawn point. Creatures attack from the sea in waves. Splatting bosses causes them to drop eggs, which need to be carried or thrown in the basket. The game has a number of maps that rotate. Each rotation has four weapons selected from the large pool in the game. The changes in maps and weapons keeps the mode fresh. I like learning to use all the weapons in this mode. In competitive, I stick to a few weapons exclusively.

For single player fans, the campaign in Splatoon 3 is decent. The recently released DLC is single player and quite good. Splatoon 2 (the other Splatoon game on the switch) was similar. The campaign in 2 is more of an extended tutorial, but the Octo Expansion DLC was one of the best campaigns of any game I have ever played. Multiplayer in 2 is still played, but the real action is in 3. However, if you play 3 and like it, you will probably love the Octo Expansion so picking up 2 just for that might be worth it to you.

Each time you start the game, there are characters that talk about what maps and game modes are currently active and make jokes. I love Pearl and Marina, the characters from Splatoon 2. The reason I just started playing 3 recently despite playing Splatoon 2 for a ridiculous number of hours is that I was too devastated that Pearl and Marina were gone in the new game. The recent DLC has fixed that! Pearl and Marina are in the DLC and after beating the story,
you can go back to inkopolis square from Splatoon 2 and they are there.

Welp, sorry for typing so much about Splatoon. I won't be surprised if nobody reads it all. If even one person does and discovers this wonderful game, it will be worth it. Booyah!

Resident Evil 4, on MacBook Pro. The game looks so good on the MacBook Pro, I want to find more games I can play. I tried Resident Evil Village but it looks older, the graphics are not as good. I enjoy graphics the most, I like exploring.
