What was the last movie you watched?

I wanted to turn off my brain and enjoy City of Bones...I tried...but alas. Just an egregious crime against the dozens of tropes and genre classics that it ripped off--haphazardly and indiscriminately. I even read the book and still the film made no sense. I started nodding off toward the end and I have a feeling that I missed nothing that would have made a difference. It was just boring. Oh well.

Prom Night (the 1980 original). It's nothing special, but if you're a fan of slasher films, it's worth a look for historical purposes as it was one of the earliest examples of the genre.

"Return Of The King" Extended version on DVD; city library rental. It was a family dinner party and then the flick. Watching this movie was a reminder about how good the stories written by Tolkien really are and about how good the movies of LOTR are.

In the middle of this movie is the sequence where Frodo is about to be butchered by Orcs in the tower of the fortification inside Mordor. I found it nerve-wracking and hoping for the best even though I have seen the movie before and read the complete set of 4 books twice cover-to-cover plus reading parts of the books and individual volumes several more times. The movies are really that good.

4 books? "The Hobbit" is an introduction to the LOTR trilogy. They are actually inseparable. "The Silmarillion" also needs be picked through enough that the reader have some background familiarity with Middle Earth if said reader is at all serious about the story.

The extended versions are far superior.

Garfield's Pet Force. It was a pleasant surprise that was better than I expected. If you like Garfield, you should definitely see it.

Have you ever seen the episode of Community where some of the characters are getting together to purposely watch a stupid movie?

I never watched Community, but one time my friend and I had a Twilight marathon. We played a drinking game and I do not remember anything past the first film.

The 2011 production Metropolitan Opera production of Gounod's Faust on Maryland Public TV The week of 2 September 2013 is Opera week on MPT

Daglicht; a dutch movie based on a novel that came out recently (I believe in the past year or so)

It's a crime/thriller kinda movie with some autism overtones that are very much part of the story. I didn't know about this movie and pretty ran into it randomly while browsing a site to download a movie and kill some time.

But the premise is about a guy with rather severe autism who is convicted for murder and has been in a clinic for the criminally insane for the past 25 years. Someone from a lawfirm, who finds out that she has a brother (that guy in prison; and has been kept in the dark about him being a relative) and doesn't believe he's guilty at all and wants to figure out why no one ever told her about her brother as well as investigating his case and prove his innocence. Add in that she also has an autistic child who she has to haul around all the time since she has no one to take care of him.

But still, I enjoyed the movie. Just too bad it's a dutch movie and thus it might be hard for most on the forum check out. But I'm quite sure some people are resourceful enough to find the movie and subtitles out there.

I am sure I will eventually be able to get it from Netflix once it comes out on DVD in the U.S.

Right now I am watching Caddy Shack (again). Great movie.
