What was the last movie you watched?

saw 'lucy' at the cinema yesterday, had massive issues with the cinema but wont go into that here.
has anyone seen it yet? woud strongly recommend it,its highly possible that a drug will eventualy be invented to activate unused parts of the brain, its like a cross between crank and kill bill.
am at the cinema once a week and woud say its the best film have seen in ages [apart from when how to train your dragon 2 came out].

breaking bad fan wyverary?

Regardless of whether it's a good movie or not, Lucy is based on a sadly common misperception. The whole "ten percent of your brain" thing does not mean that you only use ten percent period, it means that you only use ten percent of it at a time and depending on what you're doing you use a different ten percent. Lucy might very well be an entertaining film, but I'll admit I facepalmed when I saw the trailer and realized the writers obviously never paid attention in science class.

"Falcon and the Snowman"

The strange story of Christopher Boyce...seminary student turned Soviet spy, prison escapee and bank robber, who eventually is released in 2002 having served 24 years behind bars.

"Beneath The Planet Of The Apes"

Cheesy yet awesome sequel to the sci-fi classic. The film ends on a bit of a downer because they were deliberately trying to prevent the studio from doing any more sequels. They failed, obviously, because there were three more films in the original series after this one (Escape From, Conquest Of, Battle For).

Transformers: Age of extinction

Not entirely sure why I sat through almost 3 hours of it though.. but I suppose my inner child went "Hey Transformers!"

I'm normally pretty brutal about any movie that relies on special effects to tell a story line...but in this case I have to make an exception.

I could spend two or three hours observing those effects alone and still not feel "cheated".

I just watched Frozen. Despite (or maybe because of) my low expectations, I really liked it! I LOVED the way it ended, and on a visual level, it was stunning, so I recommend it for the eye candy factor. I confess I didn't care much for the songs, though.

I hate Frozen. As someone who's been a hardcore Disney fan for almost 30 years, I'm extremely annoyed by its insane success because it's one of their all time worst films. My main issue with it (but far from the only one) is the ending. The third act plot twist comes completely out of nowhere with absolutely no setup of any kind whatsoever and that's plain bad writing. I know, I know, "but if you go back and watch it again...". No. You don't get to be clever retroactively. It doesn't work that way. It's bad writing, period.

The director has gone on record saying that the ending was not the one they originally wanted. It was forced on them by the studio executives and it shows. Originally, Elsa was going to be the villain and Let It Go was written as a villain song. That's why there are heavy implications that she knows exactly what she's doing and doesn't care and the entire song comes off as a selfish coward trying to reassure herself that what she's doing is neither selfish nor cowardly, even though it totally is.

And that's not even getting into Olaf The Annoying or the awkward, cringe-inducing fake feminism. Read up on what the movie would have been without all the meddling sometime. If they'd left the director alone to make the film she wanted to make, it could have been amazing and might have actually deserved all the accolades. As it is, it's an overhyped, overpraised mess with almost no redeeming value.

I watched Riddick, I like sci-fi, supense and action all in one. Moreover, Riddick is a man true to his word, simply awesome.

The Angry Video Game Nerd: The Movie

Wow. Just wow. ****ing awesome. Mind. Blown. As a longtime fan of the show (and James Rolfe in general), my expectations for this one were sky high and they were absolutely exceeded. What really surprised me about it is that The Nerd's trademark vulgar humor was actually toned down significantly and instead, the focus is purely on telling a great story and man oh man, what a story it is.

If James Rolfe wants to get into doing feature films, I can't imagine a more impressive debut considering the seriously low budget he had to work with. Of course, none of this will mean anything unless you're a longtime fan of the show, but if you are, see this movie as soon as you possibly can. It's awesome.
