What was the last movie you watched?

giver_ver13.jpg

Of all the books I was assigned to read in elementary school, The Giver by Lowis Lowry was among my favorites, and one of the few I remember in detail. So I was pleasantly surprised to see that they made a film adaptation of it and it appearing on Netflix. The cinematography and art direction were well thought-out and I thought Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep were great choices for their respective roles, but the pacing felt so rushed. The movie would never stay in one scene long enough for me to truly latch on as much as I would have liked. I recognize that the filmmakers had to take a few liberties so that the book would would translate over into the film format (as with most book-to-movie adaptations), but as someone who enjoyed the book so much and had a specific visualization of it as I read, it felt kind of jarring. Also, I didn't get the whole triangle motif at all. I don't recall seeing it anywhere in the original novel.

Watched The Accountant, as a military brat with Aspergers, I can somewhat relate. If my dad was more like the dad in this movie, I would have turned out a bit more like the main character, albeit not to that extreme.

"Arrival"

Another film of the "first contact" sci-fi genre. An interesting and clever commentary on both the dynamics of communication between very different lifeforms and the difference between how they don't perceive time on a linear basis as we do.

Sort of reminiscent "2001: A Space Odyssey". Worth seeing.

I have to watch this movie periodically. I remember watching it in the cinema with my friends when it came out. And just realized that was 16 years ago. I feel old now xD

John Wick
Damn Keanu how did I miss this? I think I'll have to go to the cinema for John Wick 2. His snap aim head-shot shenanigans made me smile, it's like he's using a snap auto aim button. :D

Passenger 57, just because it was on TV last night. I've seen it before, and although I enjoy the mindless 90's action, I was reminded of why I shouldn't be allowed to watch films about planes. They get so many things wrong.

South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut.

Still one of the funniest movies ever if you're not easily offended by bad words.

The Neon Demon.

It has to be seen to be believed. Most messed up movie I've seen in years.

I was interested in this when I saw it come up on Netflix. I read about it on Wikipedia...and then ended up reading the whole plot :p It sounds...interesting..
