Writing sample for a job application

So i am applying for a remote immigration paralegal position in another country, and besides my resume and cover letter they also require a writing sample that is indicative of my document preparation skills.

This job is based in the US ( i am not American) I am proficient in English which is not my native language, and i am also skilled in preparing documents. However i am not sure how to go about preparing a writing sample. I have never prepared one.

Should the focus be on displaying my English skills, or the subject of immigration law itself? I can probably prepare a legal letter after doing some research on the subject but it might take a while.

I have writing samples in English from my previous jobs, but they include private info of clients so i cannot use those.

Thank you in advance for your responses.

Change client names, add a note at the beginning that names have been changed for privacy.

I thought of that too, but the paper still contains specific info about the client so i was worried. Maybe i am overthinking.

Tha subject of my paper also has nothing to do with immigration law, but maybe it does not have to be, i am confused. Thank you either way!

I would say that if they do not specify that it is about immigration law then you are free to show and how you can prepare a paper on another topic.

All the best with the application.

You might want to check your nation's travel advisories when it comes to visiting or working in the United States at this time. Things are rapidly changing, and for some aliens just being able to remain here legally may prove more difficult than in prior times.

Whatever you do, don't put anything in writing that could challenge our present regime. Otherwise they may reject you from entering the US as some nations are now warning their respective citizens.

You can change the details too.

I wouldn’t move to my country, the US, at this point in time, but if it is remote, maybe you don’t have to.

I would not, of course.

I decided to research İmmigration laws and write a new paper from scratch. I am hoping to finish it tomorrow.
