Ask A Stupid Question...

They only seem good because you haven't tasted my cooking.

Why are so many little details about the way English words and grammar are used, identical with many little details of the usage of words and grammar in Latin?

So people can look jokes up on the Internet.

Why can't I buy a six-pack of beer within a half-mile of my apartment?

If human babies were born with the ability to walk,
they might traipse off to the party store and try to
buy some beer, but since they'd just be little fellas,
they'd get lost or tired and it would just be a big
problem all the way around.

Will forced heirship make much of
a difference in my life?

Well, being a forced heir would be different than not being a forced heir, if that's what you mean. I don't know whether you will be a forced heir, or whether you are wondering whether you will be one, or whether you are referring to someone else's forced heirship, nor can I say how great a difference it could make.

Why can't I remember to turn the correct burner on?

You need to color code the burners & switches.

Why did my cousin ever get back together with
that ridiculous woman?

Because some people just don't know when to quit.

Why did my friend have to have a migraine specifically last night?

Because the migraine germs like to party on Friday.

Why do so many romantic comedies start of with a slideshow of scenes of some city?

Why do so many romantic comedies start of with a slideshow of scenes of some city?

Romantic comedies start by showing cityscapes because
humor can be derived by the juxtaposition of incongruous
elements. Example = ballerina elephant.

The writers try to develop humor by placing humans with
longing/passion/affection in a situation that is terrifying/
ugly/inhumane.(aka 'city') The high contrast between the 2 elements
is meant to provide a pleasing & memorable, somewhat
fantasy laden story, sort of a fairy tale for 'grownups.'

How much fun do you suppose I will have
at the lawyer's office tomorrow?

I don't know, but the lawyer will have a lot of fun when you pay him.

Why do the regulators (and yes, it's the regulators) make us work on Christmas Eve?

'Cuz they are the cousins of Scrouge.
