Fitness thread--what was your workout today?

I went for two small hikes (with occasional jogging/playing) in deep snow yesterday. I was happy that it was so low impact (didn't hurt as much), but I wore myself out quickly as usual. Unfortunately, I don't think it was a smart move as I ended up having an adrenaline surge/cardiac event last night that was really scary. :'( If it wasn't apparent, exercise (particularly cardio) is not easy for me. I'm back to slow yoga and physical therapy exercises I guess!

Edit: Before anyone is quick to judge, I do not need to lose weight. Being active makes me very happy (and fends off depression/anxiety). I have multiple health issues that get in the way of that lifestyle though.
Gotta agree about the effort. I snowshoe besides XC-Ski and the snowshoeing in deep powder requires much more effort, like hiking in snow.

20 minutes on my spin bike, then I stopped because I wasn’t feeling well. Afraid I’m a little under the weather.

30 minutes on the bike this morning, and because it was beautiful weather outside with 65F temps, I did two 4.5 mile power walks. One at 11:30AM, then one at 3:30PM.

Ran 30 and eeked out 10 more running mins. Then did 40 minutes on like a traverse machine that goes to the side. I smiled. Was happy. Leaving in a good mood until an idiot stood at the door pissing me off. Oh dear. Please please leave me alone.

1 hour 24 minute single track mountain bike ride last night.

It's been about 70 degrees the past couple of days, so I'll try to get out on the trails with the dogs later on.
I've been hiking almost every day! I haven't lost any weight but I'm definitely in better shape and have more energy.
Weird weather we're having for this time of year tho  It's usually freezing until mid-May.

11.67 mile single track mountain bike ride with 1,237 feet elevation gain this morning. I got rained on and left a little early.

Eating goldfish crackers. That was it.

I can relate to that. Having a bad weekend. Flat as the mat on which the cat sat. Dragged myself around the 2km outdoor trail like a granny. Fingers got lots of wiggling exercise on the keyboard today. Hope to be better soon and get into more energetic and exciting stuff. I have a skipping rope. I have a yoga mat. I have CDs. I have a horse I've started saddle-educating after my main horse died last November. There's a roadbike in the shed and a mountainbike that I've not ridden on all year. Just flat.

I think I’m coming down with something. Everything hurts. I did a 30 minute upper body strength workout when I felt okay this morning, but now I’m sore from my head to my toes.

Better today. Started with a 2km loop around the bushland, at a decent walking pace, and at the halfway point I picked up a 5ft fence post we'd cut months ago when cleaning up the firebreaks and carried that back, which slowed me a little but was a good arm/shoulder/core workout. It wasn't that heavy because it was Blackbutt, not Jarrah. When I got home I dug a hole with an old post hole shovel, which wasn't too difficult because the ground was soft and the weather quite cool. That counts as exercise. Then I re-assembled the tie rail in which I had replaced a rotten post - so now I can work with the horse again.

I also did more arm and shoulder work by trimming the hooves of one of our donkeys. To do that you use big nippers to clip, then a big rasp to file it all smooth, while holding up the hooves (I wish I were an octopus). Using the nippers is hard on your hands and finger joint arthritis, and using the rasp is a bit of a workout, especially if you're trimming a large donkey or horse and it's summer, which makes the hooves hard. This was a small donkey with quite hard hooves.

Because some of you have posted such nice photos here, I wanted to post one of hoof trimming. This is of a now deceased horse being trimmed (he lived to age 34) but the photo also has Sparkle in it, who is the donkey I trimmed today. Sparkle is blind but has excellent GPS and other senses. She likes to get up close and personal when I'm trimming anyone else's hooves.

If I'm really good, I'll do some stretching later, but between those things and general chores I'm pretty much done for today.

I can't wait until the snow is gone and riding on the roads and trails will start up again. This year there are plans to pave 12 miles of old railway bed. That will make a great 25 mile trail from the lake Michigan shore in the Betsy River valley through two nice small towns. In the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore there is a great bike trail with some 13% grades. Fun down (42 mph), but I'm in my granny gear going up.

My ICE Sprint, 30 gear, 26"rear, 20" front, with Sturmey Archer internal drum brake hubs. It's a great ride. More cost effective, though, are models from CatTrike.

Can you ride that on gravel roads, Gerald? Or does it have to be sealed road? It looks great and efficient, but having never ridden one before I think I'd get really nervous riding one of those on a road shared with cars. Is that an issue?

We have bicycle trails nearby and take our bikes there sometimes - also old rail trails. My husband rides a mountain bike and I a road bike with touring tyres, which handle gravel as long as it's not too soft.

This is our bicycles locked up on a share trail in Denmark (a town, not the country) - while we're off to the bakery to have lunch. Nice rural trails. We really need to go again!

Since we're doing up some photos, here's a couple...

My bike, a 2016 Raliegh Cadent 3 hybrid. As soon as it warms up a little, I'll start riding again. Need to pick up some suitable attire, first. I've already got some shorts on the way, next up is a sleeveless top (I suppose a running tank will do for now, but if I do anything active, I must wear something sleeveless. It's just more comfortable to me, which is why I'm waiting for warmer weather. Lol)

My stationary bike, a Nautilus U616, which gets used daily, sometimes twice a day.
