Fitness thread--what was your workout today?

Okay gym workout- those confusing machines but l feel better. Then did speed racer run on tread for 30 min. And stretches with my legs. Caffeine made everything effortless.

Actually survived the grocery store before meltdown. Lol

A 60 minute step class. I got confused with many of the moves, but I did get a pretty consistent cardio workout regardless. And my glutes are on fire.

Hope you feel better soon! I have developed Achilles tendonitis so I’m gonna have to take it easy for a bit too. Not too happy about it.

I did an hour of yoga last night. Gonna change my schedule to low impact workouts and meet with my physiotherapist asap.

Yesterday, over 90 minutes of hiking through a nearby reserve with hills in it. It's humid and disgusting here because of a tropical low that influenced our weather, so it was sticky work with a lukewarm shower afterwards to stop feeling gross. :dizzy:

Looking forward to milder autumn weather.

I did 20 minutes of low impact dance, then I had to stop because of a painful knee. Followed up by 30 minutes of stretching with some great hip openers.

I got a spin bike delivered today. First bit of exercise was hauling the thing up two flights of stairs :D
Did a 30 minute cardio session on the bike, which I really enjoyed. Did some lower body PNF stretches afterwards. Probably some yoga before bed.

I love mine. It's a Nautilus U616. Not sure I would classify it as a spin bike, but I got it because it's super quiet, and the resistance is controlled electronically through the control panel, which I like. Not a fan of using a resistance knob which the majority of traditional spin bikes use. Mine also has some quick adjustment settings--10 different levels between 1 and 25, which is handy for doing a HIIT style workout, but I'm not into that. Lol

30 minutes on the bike this morning, 2.5 mile power walk this afternoon.

My Wednesday early morning interval run/walk/run/walk around a 2km bush loop with the dog, this time without the soccer ball because she mislaid it last week when she went haring after a kangaroo with it still in her mouth and dropped it somewhere in dense scrub while in pursuit. o_O

Then after breakfast another, more gentle 2km loop with a guest on one of the eco-walks we do here. :deciduous::frogface::bee::beetle::blossom:

Doing the laundry with a twin-tub machine that requires you to transfer things from washing to spinning compartments and back again, and subsequently hanging it all on the outdoors line, was a pretty reasonable workout for both arms.

Other than that I am in goblin mode on and off at present - in-between the healthy eating, food-growing, and getting on with constructive things. But yeah, definitely going "splat" on and off.

Physiotherapist told me no lower body exercises for at least two weeks, or longer, until my Achilles heels are symptom free. And then very slowly easing back into exercise. I’m obviously not happy about this. Did some light yoga today, gonna work on a new exercise schedule that leaves out my legs tomorrow.

While I am struggling with sleep issues, I do a routine that includes
  1. leg & speech rehab exercises,
  2. additional calisthenics &
  3. exercises on an inverted piston rower.

I also have a modified fan bike that I use as an upper body ergometer when my sleep is better managed.

I like hopping on my utility trike on good-weather days.

Drove to gym- did a fast 30 min run. I did freeweight machines yesterday. I am happy. This is better then pills.

I can't wait until the snow is gone and riding on the roads and trails will start up again. This year there are plans to pave 12 miles of old railway bed. That will make a great 25 mile trail from the lake Michigan shore in the Betsy River valley through two nice small towns. In the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore there is a great bike trail with some 13% grades. Fun down (42 mph), but I'm in my granny gear going up.

My ICE Sprint, 30 gear, 26"rear, 20" front, with Sturmey Archer internal drum brake hubs. It's a great ride. More cost effective, though, are models from CatTrike.

Just did three sets of dumbbell exercises for shoulder muscles, all supersets. Shoulder presses with 20 lbs per side, lateral raises and front raises, both with 5 lbs per side, 10 reps for each exercise. Right now, I don't need a whole lot of weight to get a good burn in the shoulders. I'll be increasing reps before increasing any weight.
I try, but it takes a few 15 mile days in a canoe or kayak to get arms, back and abs in shape. What a lot of people miss about canoeing/kayaking is that you don't get power from your arms. Forward power comes from torso rotation, bringing the large muscle groups into play.
