As a mechanical engineer, I can assure you that most of my mower deck bearing failures are due to physical damage from mowing, not rusting from seal breaches as you are pushing.A pressure washer can defeat a bearing seal. I do my fiberglass with epoxy, and it has been totally durable on my cars. Nothing else can seal in rust.
I don’t have the equipment to lift up the riding lawn mower and I don’t know how to get underneath.
There are a few ways to lift it up but be very careful. Could there be a mobile garden machinery service in your area maybe? I don't think you should try to get a riding lawn mower up in the air by yourself. Good luck with everything.
Thanks, Forest Cat. I don't know of any mobile garden machinery businesses. I haven't even heard of one. But I can certainly look around.
The other reason I have to get underneath is that sometimes the belt comes off and needs to be put back on.
But none of it is an emergency. I've got a whole slough of other projects and will be thinking about this one in the back of my mind.
@Outdated, here comes another one…[Edit] and as a side note, the Queensland central coast is about to get a whole heap more water they really don't need, they're still recovering from last month's cyclone.

At Borroloola, yep. It's been a big year for cyclones this year. That usually coincides with a big breeding year for crocs too. Meanwhile I'm down in Adelaide where nothing ever happens.@Outdated, here comes another one…
Thank you, Forest Cat. I started a new thread in Off Topic so I am not hijacking this thread. I will look into some of these suggestions. I don't have a pickup truck. I have a toyota 4runner. I might have chosen differently had I known what was in store for me. Oh, well.I just have a couple of ideas I thought I would share. This is a lawn mower lift jack. Simple and effective, they cost from around $80 and up. There are different brands and types if you look around a little.

Do you happen to have a pickup truck? There are ramps you can use on the back of a pickup and as you can see in this video, they are great for getting access to the underside of a lawn mower. The ramps can also be used without a pickup, they just have to rest on something / be attached to something.
