Post something Weird or Random

We call that a snorkel, and it's not for flood waters. It's to stop your air intake from sucking up dust on country dirt roads. Trucks have them too.
I got one of those! My wilderness camp has superfine black dust, deep, dry, loose sand (called sugar sand around here), as well as standing water. Driving to my camp, I get all of the above.

Note the snorkle in front of the windscreen.
I have a better picture, but of course can't find it now that I want to use it. :/

Edit:grun.webp Here it is: Gruno - the mudmobile.

Here's my DIY of a weighted blanket:

Thoughts?

Edit: a friend told me this style anchor is good for any type of holding-ground, and that the combo would be especially useful for those who move a lot in their sleep, or for sleep walkers.

I’m currently messing with one of those scammers on Facebook who claims that you win money by commenting on a post. Right now I’m asking some really stupid questions like what is a cash app and what bills are. I’m going to see how long I can keep this up by never giving him any answers.

I've never used wheels very much off-road, so it is good to see pics of a 4 X 4 being used for wilderness access. I usually see them being very awkward in town, or being celebrated just for their ability to follow a hiker, showing off in groups. How long does it take you to feel present in nature after such a machine-intensive passage? I noticed that I would feel instantly present if I arrived by bicycle, saving at least two hours compared to using a car on good roads.

He’s asked me where I’m from for the second time. I answered “The Earth.” I’m going to see if I can make this person extremely frustrated with me and quit talking to me.

Pretty much when I shut down the engine and open the door at camp.

Latest amusement - watching frustrated owners of ridiculously oversized "american trucks" tearing their hair out now that more and more businesses are installing width restrictors in their carparks. (bollards) You don't see many of them on our roads but the ones you do see create havoc in carparks, they're now being blocked for public health and safety reasons as well as insurance considerations. Half the people that own them wouldn't be able to drive between two bollards even if they did fit, they only seem to get bought by incompetent drivers.

These ridiculously oversized trucks and SUVs are a pain in the US. Most of them are driven by little men who are obviously compensating for some personal deficiency. They'll justify their monster trucks by claiming they need it to "haul" something. Yeah, like that little sheet of plywood and two bags of potting soil bought from Home Depot once a year.

They're annoying in suburban back streets too, if there's a couple of parked cars along the side of the street then there's still enough room for normal cars to go both ways but one of those things needs all of the remaining space to itself. They must be a nightmare to own with a turning cycle the size of a container ship and the amount of fuel they consume, and here the registration and insurance costs are determined by fuel consumption as well. They just don't make sense from any angle.

I just paid another 12 months registration and insurance on my little Skoda with it's tiny little 1.2 litre engine - Au$670. Around US$400.

And whenever we use the word Truck we mean something like this:

Reminds me of that great line in Crocodile Dundee -"THIS is a Knife!" as he instantly deploys a Bowie.
