What song are you listening to right now?

That is a very happy yet sad song. I didn't know he was schizophrenic.

I learned years later that one of my ex friends was schizophrenic. She was a weird, outsider kind of person like me also. Also had a thing for astrology. I often Wonder what she is doing now. She loved this song:

Now in 'non'avision. Not quadravision, not octovision, but nonavision!

I can't find a 9 way split so thought I'd make one.
Because those 9 way spits are just so hard to find when you need 'em... She clearly has her admirers.

I didn't know he was schizophrenic.

He's went through a lot. From being a guitar virtouso. Falling out with Kiedis, leaving RHCP. Addicted to heroin. Schizoprenia. Burning his house down. Losing some teeth. Debts. Nearly dying. And then rejoining the band, after Flea insisted.
Drugs, ghosts and the radical re-birth of John Frusciante

Eagles - Hotel California

Baker street has certain mystique. It's a song, which some people think has hidden meanings. I've read something about it, many years ago. Schizophrenic people have very distinct ways of interpreting things, and many look at the world in a paranoid and dark way. For e.g. Hotel California, the theory that it's about cannibalism, possible secret goings on at 'Bohemian grove'. Those kind of interpretations.

I heard that Hotel California was about addiction, maybe it's open to interpretation. The lyrics" you can never leave" def. Give off a weird, creepy cult like feel.

I grew up with these songs:

Eric Burden is great in Drink that Wine. I like how the bass player basically discovered and produced Hendrix, when he came to London in 1966.

On September 24th, 1966, Hendrix took up the offer from The Animals’ bassist and moved to swinging London where he would sign a management and production contract with him and Animals manager Michael Jeffery. Chandler immediately began recruiting members for a band that would get the best out of Hendrix’s insane ability and the Jimi Hendrix Experience was born.

??? - Foxy Lady Instrumental

Interesting. I am not that well informed on them, mainly know about 60s and 70s bc of my father's cds. We used to listen to these songs a lot while traveling in the car. Good times. Now for a different sound:

Yeah, Eric lookin pretty Kewl here. Kewl. Maybe it's the dragon stage. Reminds me of 60's 'mondo 'movies.

I dont think the cameraman zooming in on His crotch was necessary though. Totally gratuitous. And Not Kewl.... Totally not Kewl.

"The Girl from Ipanema"....relaxing. I've heard that before. I think it might be Brazils most famous song.

The way she drops it down low for that ultra deep...Wow, the way she betty boops it up...Wow...that dress...Wow....that ending melody 3:16 - 3:26 ...Wow
Kate Bush.....Wow

As far as lyrics go..she seem to be sarcastic...like a woman who's heard 'all the lines' and is tired of being hit on...."we think you are really kewl"...*mock delivery,* amazing, incredible, fantastic , a woman who's used to adoration. But I see other explanations, like the 'vas part, huh? ...but I'm too busy staring at her body to figure it out. Who the hell knows what was in her mind. I take the "stage" part as Shakespearian, all the world is a stage. I'm going with a broader interpretation. More archetypal. but apparently it's about....thespians. Literally.

Kate Bush - Lionheart

SO English. She's such a charming lass...but with a hint of naughtiness. :yum:

Now that I think about...she' fits all my criterion of my ideal woman. Almost archetypal feminine. But she has very shrewd mind lurking underneath it all. She's very animated, even when when shes not dancing. Her expressive facial moments are deceptively charming, calculatedly demure? she has '10 o levels' after all.

If you can't tell by now, shes my latest obsession... Yeah Her songs have more depth than you would expect. And she's the consummate performer.

EMI wanted this to be her first single. She insisted on Wutherhing Heights. They left her alone after that.
James and the Cold Gun

Not bad. But I don't think she woulda made such a big splash.

Secret message...
Yeah that pon pon thing...not my...taste...but certainly...upbeat. Now if I could figure out what she was sayin...certainly grabs you, it stands out. Hardly dull. Very far out. Colourful.

I've listen to her so much, I have her songs stuck in my head now... It's very soothing, while I'm zoning out other peoples chatter....while I wonder into nothingness.
Kate Bush - Them Heavy People

I decide to take the broader interpretation. See Kate songs, I believe they all have least two interpretations. An exoteric and esoteric. This is what I believe and no one ca change my mind. lol.

At the risk of sounding schizo, My interpretation. On the surface, its about "heavy people, you know like those grey types, who drag down the lighthearted protagonist ' Kate. On that level its a sociological commentary on assault on the sense of both heavy people, intellectuals who live in ivory towers, deluge the culture with information overload, and "heavies" slang term for brutal gangster types, goons, who I believe are represented by the two hoodlums who manhandle and assault her throughout the video..so artistically.

But I overlay a cosmological symbology on the song. The first line "rolling the ball" well thats solar symbology. The rolling ball that orbits a center of gravity = Heavy matter.

Them heavy people hit me in a soft spot....now I don't have to explain that. We all know what soft spot shes talking about. "Don't fall for a magic wand" "It's nearly killing me, but what a lovely feeling!"

"They read me Gurdjieff and Jesu" Kate showing off her intellectual well read background. She said she was going to be a psychiatrist if music didn't work out.

To back up my idea the song is cosmological, apparent the guy was a mystic teacher, spoke on such matters. I've know a bit about him. His life story. He has a very elaborate books that are damn near impossible to get through. Occult cosmic theology stuff.

And Jesu, well the solar mythology connection is well established.

Her songs are surprising dense in my opinion, next to contemporary pop songs from that era, which are usually very formulaic and simple. She had 10 o levels after all. Needless to say I think shes brilliant, intellectually as a songwriter, not just physically alluring, which she's that too.

They're good.... especially the guitarist....proto-Zeppelin
Early dazed and confused is exceptional....Hard not to move. It gets inside you. Sends energy up your body. Even if you listen to it, and it's just your knee movin...that's a sign a song is truly rock n roll, when it moves you. When you feel it Physically. It's that good. Not everything can do that.

This whole set got my body energized ....it's those riff, and to think, just an hour ago, I was dead. Now I've come alive. .....my energy system is f-d up. Maybe it's coffee too.

I'm running through her albums.
'Lyin Heart' is my favorite...this one is okay...so far.

I like her description of the sphinx....oh kate...wotta minx...

...ya know what I mean. This bird is like brainy. Innit. Saucy too.
Wedding list...truly psychotic.. video specially. :hushed: she bleeds from the mouth in that.
I'm still waiting for Army dreamer to lose it's power...She contrasts the motherly instinct of care and nurture and gentleness with the war machine. Male dominated culture. The killing fields. And then further reinforces that with anti nuclear song. Message is clear. Woman = life. Military = death. The 60's message. A reiteration.
