  • After months' worrying--I found out I can get a buttonholer for my sewing machine for less than $20. Looks like I finally get good shirts.

Do you sew your own clothes?? That’s amazing!
I can’t sew without stabbing myself lol. :p

I'm working on teaching myself to do a better job. I like old styles you can't get any more, have little money, hate fast-fashion and sweatshop labor, and can fix machinery. Hence the antique sewing machine.

It isn't too hard to sew really. It's fun.

    Cool!
Within the last week I've ended up with a girlfriend and an offer of a $20/hour job. This will take time to process.

I’m sorry :( What do you think is not right with the situation?
    Gerontius

Mostly my mindset @crewlucca_ -- Nothing to do with job or girl but everything to do with my complete, debilitating fear of asking for help.

:( I know asking for help is hard. I’m here if you need support
Trying something different today & going to mass at a different parish. It'll be nice to maybe make friends

Update. It was nice. Didn't make any new friends but it was in a great town that's definitely bicycling distance and I am going to heaad down there & try socializing more as soon as college & bicycle repairs permit.
I moved! Going back soon to rescue the old pump organ and the victrola but other than that GOODBYE FOREVER cityscape from Hades.
I must stay productive today. It's getting harder. My attention span is down to about 3 to 5 seconds.

It's the news that might save my attempt at college. Moving underneath an old house--ASAP. Just gotta finish midterms & pack my trunks

underneath as in basement? sounds nice and quiet.
Life is making me tired. I'm about this close to being done with the nonsense--Is there a fast-forward button?

Sorry you're feeling this way right now... I really struggle to put my thoughts into words too. I feel like I'm always spamming the forum with useless rambles :( But I find your posts really informative and helpful! And you have a great sense of humor!!

I hate the inevitability of noise--after some homework probably taking a bit of a midnight drive to escape.

OMGOMGOMG!! I spend several years lighting the house with only oil lamps, even though we lived in an apartment. No internet, no tv. Knitting and sewing for fun, playing piano and reading. I miss it.

I have a real Victorian oil lamp in the shed, I bought it at an estate sale in Sutter Creek, Cal., up in the Gold Country. The house was originally a kit house, and it was very old, and had a lot of cool old stuff. I really should use it after I move.

Nobody can replace their cars due to the crazy shortages. I refuse to drive when the roads are crowded for that reason. A computer chip factory in Japan blew up apparently and now they're saying several YEARS until chips are available again. Yikes!
The noise from neighbors will probably drive me nuts. It's the inescapability of it, more than anything else.

    Ear plugs are your friend.

I've tried that and it doesn't work. Vibrations that go through the floor aren't really stopped by ear plugs. Upward mobility, a higher-paying job, and a realtor who deals in abandoned farmsteads in the wilderness are my real chance.
    I think I'm depressed.

@Markness Thanks friend; actually you & a few others helped by example.
If I don't get this stuff under control I'll end up disabled from it or dead. Thought I was going to die last summer. That isn't the plan. So time to see about fixing it.

I felt that way as well. Society really needs to take mental health more seriously.

I had to cut a staph infection out of my stomach with a match, a tin of black-salve, and the needle off the old windup victrola. This is why I'm worried that due to depression & lack of function I'm going to end up dead.
    Got to fix this, now.
Rode 9 miles on a 65-year-old British roadster bicycle at around midnight last night. Restoration is almost done.
