    Oh wow! I just found a new Worst Witch collectable! There's a 50th Anniversary version of the first book in a posh clothbound presentation with new and colour illustrations :-) I just pre-ordered it and I should get it September 12th! I can't wait! :-)

    My poor cat has not been himself all day and I noticed his right eye seemed to look a bit sore. Eventually I managed to clean his eye up with some tissues and he was so well behaved while I did it. I found what looked like an insect stinger on the tissue that had been in his eye. I hope he's feeling better now!

    I'm glad it turned out to be "just" a sore claw, although the poor guy must have been very uncomfortable. Sounds like he might have had a run-in with a thorny bush or something outside?

    @AuroraBorealis I think it was causing him a lot of pain :( He is a house cat so he must have hurt his paw somewhere in the house. I'm not entirely sure how, but he was howling for me the other day but he seemed ok and I had assumed that was when he got the sting in his eye. He seems much better now and he's having a snooze :)

    I should have left a smiley face with my message. It's been 40 years now but remembering a mate laughing so hard he couldn't breathe properly still brings a smile to my face. Glad to hear the cat's OK but keep an eye on that claw for infection. Cats aren't as clean as you think.

    My favourite coffee mug has been missing for quite a while. I'm getting a bit worried that it's been broken :-( In other news, I found a Jean Michel Jarre record at the thrift store and my cat is absolutely fascinated by it :)

    @Outdated I'll bet she loved that! :-) She probably thought it was a big treat! I get really paranoid about bones with my cat. I know they can chew through things like that and their tongues allow them to strip the meat off bones. My cat is unusual as he doesn't like gravy! He's the first cat I've known to not go nuts for it!

    Dogs and cats are the same with bones. If they learned how to eat with bones when they were little then they'll be fine. It's animals that didn't get to learn how to handle them that have trouble with them. We always gave cooked bones to our cats and dogs, we couldn't afford to not feed ourselves first and animals cleaned up the leftovers.

    That makes sense. I gave him some salmon for a treat at Christmas and he ate all of it except a little piece that had some bone in it. I guess it's a good sign that he avoided that part and perhaps I don't need to be overly paranoid about him eating bones :-)

    Just found my replica Tufty Club badge/button. I had a real one when I was very young. For those of you not from the UK and also younger than your average Boomer or GenXer. The Tufty Club was a road safety education scheme in the UK. When you completed your exercise booklet you got a real Tufty Club badge :)

    @Aspychata It is isn't it :-) I was very proud of my original Tufty Club badge. They were given to us by what we called a "Lollipop Man" at school. They were called that because the sign they used to stop traffic to allow children to cross the road looked like lollipop :-)

    Been watching a youtube video by a guy that is Dumpster Diving in the UK. He's going through an Amazon dumpster and it's quite shocking what they throw away!

    My girlfriend got me some paper you can print stickers on. I saw a kinda hand drawn Apple logo the other day that I thought was quite funky so I tried to recreate it to stick on my G4 Mac mini. Not absolutely terrible for a first try I guess. I quite like it :)

    Since I seem to be "in the zone" I've been making some little boxes to store stuff in. They're a bit characteristically imperfect in terms of their dimensions but I think they will be ok :) Of course they have to have kitties on them! :) I think I will give them another coat of PVA glue and they should be done :)

    My sleep pattern is abysmal again. I couldn't sleep again but for once in a long time I've felt quite energetic so I baked some Fat Rascals again to do something constructive :) I don't know why they always look so messy though, I try really hard to make them look neat and tidy like the ones from Betty's I can assure you they taste perfectly nice! Even if they look like monsters :)

    I got a bit hyper focused today :-) I found my ancient G4 Mac mini and decided to get it up and running, which was quite challenging. It was full of dust bunnies, the dvd drive was seized solid and I liberated 2 microscopic capacitors while trying to redo the thermal paste! But it's working and I'm watching an Eddie Izzard dvd on it :-)

    I hope our new phones stay fast for a good long while! :-) It's so much easier to post here with my new phone, my last phone sometimes only let me type one word every 2-3 seconds lol!

    The screen protector on my old phone had cracked in several places. It only had 32gb (lol! "Only"!) I tried adding extra storage but it didn't seem to help. I hoped to get a couple more years out of it, but it was driving me mad 😸

    Thanks @Gerontius :-) It seems to be working really well and I haven't even upgraded to an SSD yet! I also found that Target Display Mode still works if I boot into the old OS so I can still use it as a display for other things too! :-)

    Well I managed to get a compatible GPU for my 2010 iMac and I'm installing Ventura! :) Keep your fingers crossed! Hopefully my ancient Mac will join the 2020s! :)

    I think it was innocent fun. It was boarding on campy almost. Things were great at that time in my life. :) l do wish to see it. I hope it's still in the theaters in May, that's when my friend comes.

    I remember going to see the first ever Ghostbusters movie almost exactly 40 years ago! I must have seen it on the theatre 6 times! I feel so old but the new movie made me feel like a kid again! :-)

    Yikes! I upgraded the CPU on my older iMac today, but not before the first time ever bending a load of pins on the LGA socket! I was incredibly lucky to be able to use a needle and a microscope to bend them back! So far it's booting and running benchmarks without problems :-)

    That looks like a good solution, I would have much rather Apple had done that rather than a latch. Mines an LGA 1156 so I don't know if there's anything similar available. On the other hand, I doubt I will ever change the CPU again on this iMac, so I will leave it well alone :-)

    I think the anti-buckling device is only available for the LGA 1700 at the moment. But it is totally secure since it battens down the CPU on all four sides as opposed to the latch device that simply puts pressure on the left and right side of a CPU. Much simpler, and without any "spring" effect.

    Went to see some relatives today and found a huge thrift store that had a cool USB drawing tablet super cheap so I picked it up for a friend of ours who needs one. I managed to leave before I filled my arms with stuff that I probably don't really need :-)

    After going through my MacBook with a fine toothed comb, I freed up 700GB of space in total! It seems to be much snappier now too! :-)

    Thanks @Gerontius :-) It was really just a case of being persistent and looking for anything that was just sitting on the hard disk taking up space that could be moved to my network drive. It's amazing how much stuff accumulates in things like the downloads folder!

    I managed to free up 600GB of space on my laptop! :-) I don't usually let stuff accumulate like that on my computers. I like tidying stuff up even if it's just virtual. When this final folder gets uploaded to my network drive I will have a total of 650GB freed up! Yay! :-)

    Smart devices can really try your patience! I have spent waaaay too much time trying to get a motion sensor to turn on our porch lights when someone approaches the door. I gave it up for the day and I noticed just now its decided to start working on its own lol!

    @Judge Maybe it's a bit of both. I'm wondering if it kinda calibrates itself over time to differentiate between a presence and no presence. I thought it may be detecting the porch lights as movement so it just ended up in a loop but after I gave up I noticed it was working like it should :-)

    I've had a bit of an "online hiatus". I've just not had much energy at all for a while. Not sure if it's a hangover from having COVID, but hopefully I'm getting a bit of energy back again :-) In other news, i finally fixed my messy tickley hair and dyed it purple, so I think thats a good sign :-)

    My daughter loved dying her hair in high school. Magenta color seem to appear many times. But her HS was laid back, so she didn't get bullied.

    @Aspychata I think purple is my new fav color right now :-) Normally I'm pretty neutral on colors but I'm liking purple at the moment! I usually don't like catching a glimpse of myself in the mirror but right now each time I do I just think "OMG! MY HAIR IS SO PURPLE!". I'm glad your daughters HS let her express herself :-) I got in so much trouble for dyeing my hair at school! Worth it though! :-)

    Thanks @Xinyta :-) I think I'm finally feeling like I'm getting somewhere near recovered. I had no doubts that COVID was awful but I guess you can't prepare for the reality of experiencing it first hand. It's an exhausting virus to deal with. I wouldn't wish it on anyone!
