Those of you who have watched “The Bourne Ultimatum” will remember Nicky sat at one of the pavement tables. Yes, I sat and had a coffee there, too. :)

This is the view from Kyauk Ka Lat Pagoda, on Mt Zwegabin, at sunrise. There’s a bit of a story behind this. I had caught the overnight bus from Yangon, with one of my students. We arrived at Hpa-An at about 3 am. My student asked did I want to climb a mountain. I said OK, so within minutes we, with another friend of his, were charging through the night in a tuk-tuk. Left in the dark (in more ways than one) we set off hiking into the night…

I was dressed, as usual, in longyi (ankle-length, wrap-around skirt) and Myanmar slippers (velvet-covered flip-flops.) The idea was to reach the summit by sunrise. We made it. To quote from guides online, “The Mt Zwegabin Monastery Hike is considered a moderately challenging trek […] The total length of the trail is approximately 5 kilometers, with an elevation gain of around 2,000 feet (600 meters). […] It is advised to wear sturdy hiking shoes or boots with good traction to navigate the rocky terrain safely.”

Here’s the view from the valley below, later in the day:

On my first trip here (to meet research colleagues at the university) I was travelling from Haarlem, near Amsterdam. I missed the first exit from the Brussels ring road and ended up on the road that ran past the Waterloo battleground. (Sorry, no photos - I was driving, and running late for our meeting.)

Bologna, Italy
Hi @ManuelXX, is that Torre dell'Arengo over Palazzo del Podestà? Nice photo. I haven’t been to Bologna yet. Just a note: “Places A-Z” - we post them in alphabetical order. Next up would be “T”. Welcome to the thread! [Sorry if you meant to label it for the tower - that would be a “T”. ;)]

This is such a fancy place, crazy property prices. There is a bakery in that open square in the middle of the picture, best baked goods in the entire city. 😋
