OK, it’s a railway station in a suburb of Brisbane.

Boubínský Prales is a primeval forest which has been a natural preserve since 1858.

Not the most inspiring picture of the National Monument, but out of shot to the right is where I was headed - Pijlsteeg. A little lane to the right of the Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky. Halfway down Pijlsteeg, on the left, is Wynand Fockink, my favourite proeflokaal in Amsterdam.

Fes, Morocco

The tannery. Fes is well-known for its leather goods.

It also has some famously narrow streets.

Gardnerville, Douglas County, Nevada

A breathtaking Tahoe-area town that is very near and dear to my heart.

Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam

View of the Town Hall from the rooftop terrace of the Rex Hotel. The Rex was the location for the daily US military press briefings, widely known as the Five O’Clock Follies. In May, 2005, over 100 foreign correspondents and veterans reunited on the rooftop terrace.

The native fruit and nut forests of Kyrgyzstan is the primeval source for many of our cultivated fruits and nuts that are enjoyed all around the world.

Monumento a la Independencia, Mexico City, Mexico

Another view of Mexico City. It was a striking feature of the city, that the housing appeared like a “tide-line” up the slopes of the basin in which the city is built. Contrary to many other locales, the higher up the slope you are, the poorer you are. I do not have many photos within Mexico City - I was there for a conference and we were warned not to venture out of the hotel.

I would highly recommend a visit to the Anthropological Museum.

There are halls devoted to each of the great cultures of Mexico’s history.

Nevada City, California

A little historic gold mining mountain town on the way to Truckee and the Donner Pass.

Oslo, Norway

I stayed in this house in Gamle Drammensvei for a month, back in the 70s. We rented the upper floor.
