Whaat? You live in Portland, right? I’m always astounded when things like that happen here. For the second time this year, someone pried the mezuzah off my doorframe.
Both events happened on Shabbat during a Holy Jewish Festival.
This time, however, they stole the Torah scroll inside.
Are my daughter and I in danger? I'm getting scared.
Edit: I filled out a police report, and emailed my apt manager.

This should not be happening, Perhaps something may come to light on the person who did this. When I first read your post I thought perhaps it may be an addicted opportunist who has no idea the value of religion to some people. Further than that it is truly shockable. I am sorry that you had to pass through this again. For the second time this year, someone pried the mezuzah off my doorframe.

In Portland, Oregon, USA, though… We’re such a liberal city. Things like this happening here always surprise me.Antisemitism is on the rise all over Europe these days, I assume the same thing is happening over there in the US. It's a sign of the times.
You first.Stay on-topic
Even I am "hearing the dog whistles" today. It feels like quite a few antisemites are feeling emboldened lately
You would be correct. It seems a man in the U.S. cannot step outside his home while wearing his kippah and tzitzit without being accosted.Antisemitism is on the rise all over Europe these days, I assume the same thing is happening over there in the US.

What is wrong with people...Yeah I understand. I used to be surprised too. But these days... I don't know, a few weeks ago someone spray painted "Kill All White People!!" on a church here, on the church wall. Nothing surprises me anymore.

It hasn't been a problem for me. I walk through all different neighborhoods of a large city, at all hours of day and night. I have payot (sideburns), a kippah and tzitzit. I'm grateful that the only antisemitism experienced were very few, mild incidents. You would be correct. It seems a man in the U.S. cannot step outside his home while wearing his kippah and tzitzit without being accosted.
I just read that antisemitic activities are up 200% in the US since the October 7, 2023, attack in Israel. For a country founded for "freedom of religion", it seems we have a lot less freedom and acceptance of others' religions than what existed back in the 1600s and 1700s.
There are strange things happening and happening on a high political level. After the attack, someone in our government told our King that he couldn't send his condolences to Israel. He always does that when something terrible happens somewhere, it's normal. But not this time, someone told him no, he couldn't do it. That's very unusual.
I hope he sent condolences, anyway. Humans are losing their humanity.
