Cars and car troubles

nope...that is where the "fun" begins

I remember seeing Lucas combination switches explode many times

A 1979 MGB came into my shop with an electric fuel pump failure...traced the problem to a bad ground...it was shared with a tail light ground...exposed to the elements under the rear panel in a salt rust prone area screwed with a selftap into thin sheetmetal...not a great idea Mr. Lucas

I always thought it was really cool regarding those who were putting the Datsun 2000 engine into MGBs.

I have a friend that supercharged his MGB with a tiny Roots style blower

when I get time,I want to put an Eaton blower off a Buick V-6 on my 22re 4 cylinder for my 4Runner and air to water intercool it so it will pull hills without downshifting it

Roots style blowers are awesome. I have a buddy with a 2003 Cobra with a Kenne Bell blower. The whine and power is amazing.

I did a Gale Banks upgrade to an F-250 Ford's turbocharger system...that truck ran like a Chevelle when I drove it,but required butchering the firewall for the huge exhaust pipe to replace the squashed downpipe on the factory setup...International never intended that unit to go into a pickup

I get a tear in my eye when I remember a microburst storm that caused a 100 year flood. I had just cleaned up my shop and had a box of pictures to take home sitting on the shop floor...I lost the photos of my cars, trucks and bikes and all the negatives that day...the only pictures I have of my early rides were given to me over the years.

I am uploading about 1k pictures from one of my favorite car shows that I used to attend. Haven't been in a few years unfortunately.

My gearhead stable included a 67 Camaro 327 4 speed ragtop...a 68 Firebird Formula 400 4 speed...a 69 RS SS convertible 350 4 speed pacecar...a 70 split bumper RS Camaro 350 auto...a 75 Camaro 350 auto and a 90 Firebird 350 auto...I built my only Ford Mustang in highschool...it was a 68 ragtop with a 289 and 4 speed...My 72 GTO 455 auto was a ragtop that I saw an indicated 138 mph in one night on it's 160 speedo...0-60 in 5.9 seconds...that car had every factory option...glass rear window, air conditioning, power seat, tilt wheel, power windows, locks and top...my Mopar was a quick car, a very rare 68 Formula S Barracuda 383 4 speed notch top...one of just over 1,800 Formula S units produced that year...it had a narrowed 4.88 Dana 60 rear,4 speed, fenderwell Hooker headers and factory solid lifters...paid $1000 for it and sold it two years later for $2000...I could have gotten that for the emblems off it as I found later...I had timeslips from the previous owner of it running low 11 second passes at PID...My 66 Caprice came later as a 14 second streetmachine and is about 85% completed to run NHRA SuperStreet 10.90 class...I will use a 427 in it, an auto trans and 4.10 gears on ten inch slicks...it is 12 point caged and lightened to 3400 lbs from her hefty 4100 lbs to whup Mustang butt...I live in GM country...Fords cost too much to build and Mopars do not stay together...

This is my buddies 03 Cobra. I am in the passenger seat.

The running bet on my Chevy is to clear a beer can with a front tire on launch...I figure 8-900 ponies might do that...

your car looks awesome, but I hated them on the track...they beat the tar out of my Chevy...that is why I put my girl on her diet...and gathered a lot of horses to pull her down the track...I set back my engine 2.5 inches pulled forward my axle about 3inches to instant center better

We had a lot of toolbags that should have stayed in Heavy Street Class come down to street class and sandbag our asses...I put my heart, soul and savings into a lil 327 pushing my tub down to 14 seconds and got my ass handed to me by them when they were no good in heavy class but wanted a "win"

Super Street is drowning in the sandbaggers to the point that the races are disgusting to watch as they wheely and then lift and starts a race a second time

do you know much about the Judson Super chargers Gene?

The VW at the bottom has an interesting cooling set up

no,but it looks interesting...probably like a centrifugal blower judging by the size of the housing...I like the very Corvair looking belts and cooling system on the bug too...the Corvair used a similar pulley system to change belt direction 90 degrees...Porsche lent Chevy a hand on the 'vair engine

All I know about the blower was that it had sliding vanes in it. Apparently they made them for the Fiat and MGs.

It goes to show what is old is new with some updates along the way.

I wonder what would be the electrical shorting risks would be with that shroud

this aspey missed that...laughs...secondary ignition running thru metal...not good...I focused on the belts and carbs...feel stupid for missing that...but it is 3:40 am now...time for sleep...
