we did not see it, smell it,

But both saw, did and heard it
right after exiting the cave,
yet we could not taste it

I don't know how the others feel, but I give up. I don't know what it is.
 
Final Clue: The sun was overhead shining bright when they exited the dark cave at midday. So what did they do because of some medical reflex, see from each other then and hear? The answer is the same. In 15 minutes I will give it, if nobody answers it.
 
The sun wold make them squint, but I don't think they would hear that.
