Might need another clue

There are about seven to eight groups of words in the riddle that may seem illogical at first, but they make sense.. What word am I looking for, for the riddle answer then. It is a figure of speech that starts with an o. And can the person who answer correctly name them all? One of the eight may be a compound word. The other seven, two words each.

I was clearly misunderstood.
Almost exactly 2 PM my time,
and the only choice was to be awfully good.
It was pretty ugly though, yet very bittersweet.
as I acted naturally and did not retreat.

I think I misread this, and maybe still. Regardless, it seems a bit hard to answer right now. See if others have better guesses. The only answer I can think of now is breathing, heart rate and body temperature decreases before sleep and death..
