If you are on the autistic spectrum, are you or have you been in a romantic relationship?

Yes, many, many times. Started late, so catching up :)

On the subject of accuracy vs politeness

I stop any interaction the second a conspiracy theory is mentioned. There is often no way to respond rationally. Conspiracy theories are things a person think are true, and no evidence against them is effective. The evidence is in fact proof that the conspiracy is wide. Circular logic at its best.

On the subject of accuracy vs politeness

Haha. I think that's for sure a trait. I'm always balancing that trade-off. Facts versus politeness. It's so much worse for me in academia, especially on something related to my area of research. Also, come on, Athena wouldn't be a popular name if it were based on the goddess of prostitution...

    Perception of things and events

I think there is a lot of variability. My mother (on the spectrum) has a high tolerance to pain. I do not but not too sensitive either. My bother, who is also on the spectrum, feels pain just thinking about it. I doubt pain tolerance/intolerance is too different in autistics but not sure.

    Most humans are garbage.

True, but perhaps a warning first? Or a request to just vent? This is a public forum. I can't see the point of stating that most humans are garbage... I feel more frustrated than empathic but I see your point of view.

    Most humans are garbage.

I hope you feel better soon because you're not doing much by ranting. And also, if we agree with your logic, I'm probably garbage and so are people in this forum including the person you look in the mirror. How is that helping the world -- or yourself?

    Woke feminism silenced

Do you have good evidence indicating that people --women and low-income men in particular-- in countries that have arranged marriages are better off than in countries that do not, past or present? My evidence based on people I know is very much the opposite. Always greener on the other side?

Dealing with anxiety due to big upcoming events

I'm not sure what's the best strategy, but one suggestion is to focus on doing your best without worries about future consequences. Maybe you get the job, maybe you don't. Maybe the job is a couple of months later so you have time to plan. Or give yourself permission to worry only about one...

There is no shame in feeling shame about having autism

I'm late to this discussion, but my sense @Misty Avich is that "shame" and "feel inferior" or "feel bad about x" or "hate x" have very different meanings. When I read the title of your post, I did not react negatively to you but I was about to respond to the word "shame." Shame implies guilt...

    Question about social-emotional reciprocity

I guess that at a very basic level, understanding social cues is necessary but not sufficient to *respond* to those cues. The response depends on so many factors. Some of them are learnable, though. The problem is that we seldom get feedback. We just learn about the consequences.

    A bit of perspective

The problem of "life could always be worse" is that "life could always be better." :) But agree overall. It's not events that matter but how we react to them, if we could only control the reaction...

Question if it normal for me to have inappropriate anger as a 23-year-old

The former girlfriend doesn't seem to be a reliable informant. You're always so polite on this forum... I'd trust your parents. :)

Question if it normal for me to have inappropriate anger as a 23-year-old

Do people close to you think that anger is a problem? Have gotten in legal problem or problems in school? Does it cause you discomfort? Maybe those are better ways evaluating the issue.

I’m starting therapy for the first time today

Good luck to you!! I understand. I had the same issue, believing for many years that I had bipolar II. Special interests and passions for certain things look a bit like hypomania.

    Autism center/Services for Adults

There are many, depending on the state. What are you looking for and where?

I feel hurt when my ex-girlfriend calls me "Stupid" for being severely learning disabled.

Sound more like a crime of un-passion... The best revenge is to completely ignore that person. Feel the joy of her opinion not mattering an iota. Not a tiny bit. Nothing.

    Mentally destroyed from work

At the bare minimum, you need a long vacation. At least you'll have time to ponder things.
